Insurance coverage varies by plan. Before your first session, we verify your benefits to determine whether therapy is covered and what your copay, coinsurance, or deductible may be. This ensures you understand your financial responsibility ahead of time.
Most sessions are 50 minutes for self-pay and 53 minutes for insurance-billed sessions, in accordance with insurance time-based billing requirements. This applies to both 90837 and 90847 when insurance is involved.
Most clients begin with weekly sessions to build momentum. Over time, sessions may shift to biweekly or less frequently, depending on progress. Scheduling is collaborative.
There is no set timeline. Some clients meet goals in a few sessions; others continue longer. Progress is reviewed regularly, and decisions are made together.
Your first session focuses on building safety, understanding concerns, and clarifying goals.
Bring a pen, paper, or journal if you like to take notes.
Your therapist will review informed consent, confidentiality, and expectations.
Complete all intake paperwork beforehand; incomplete forms may reduce session time or delay starting therapy.
No referral is required. You can schedule directly.
Yes. Telehealth is available. Coverage depends on your plan and will be verified before scheduling.
We value your time and ours. Please arrive on time for your scheduled session so you receive the full benefit and other clients are not delayed.
Cancellations and missed appointments:
At least 24 hours’ notice is required if you need to cancel or reschedule.
Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session fee.
Insurance does not cover missed-session fees.
Each client receives one late-cancel/no-show waiver per calendar year. After that, fees apply fairly and consistently.
Late arrivals:
Sessions will end at the scheduled time if you arrive late; lost time cannot be added to future appointments.
Self-pay clients are responsible for the full session fee, even if late, to protect your reserved time.
Insurance clients will be billed for the actual time provided, and balance billing for missed time is typically not allowed under insurance contracts.
Why this policy matters:
Having a clear, written policy protects both you and your therapist.
This policy is reviewed during your initial visit along with informed consent, financial responsibility, and billing procedures.
Respecting scheduled times ensures fairness to all clients and supports continuity of care.
